Some of my Do's and Don't of Flying

- Do smile and say Hello while boarding. It's polite and will make your Flight Attendants in a better mood. :)

-Don't bring your whole house with you. If you can't roll it, carry it or lift it yourself, leave it at home.

- Do feel free to ask a Flight Attendant if you need something. We are more than happy to get you a glass of water to take medicine, a blanket or a cup of hot tea for your sore throat. However...

- Don't get mad if we are busy (esp during boarding) and can not get it for you right away. Relax, we will bring it to you as soon as we have time.

-Do remember that if you are sitting in a bulk head row (aka. there is no seat in front of you) ALL of your bags must go in the overhead bins.

-Don't argue with us. Please! We didn't make the rules but it is our job to enforce them. Arguing with us will not change our minds that your kindle or iphone needs to be turned off. These rules have not changed for Years.

- Do listen to our announcements. We know you have heard them a million times... so have we! But, we might be telling you something you didn't know but will ask later on. Things like time in route, any delays, diversions, weather in route, etc.

- Don't stare at the Flight Attendants while we sit in our jumpseats. We are not circus animals. No one likes to be stared at. It is weird and creepy!

- Do throw ALL of your trash away when we come through the aisles with trash bags. This includes anything that you brought on board with you. Yes we are talking about all those newspapers shoved in the seat back pocket. (c'mon people, we are adults here so clean up after yourself and your children).

- Don't throw away your trashy magazines. That is not trash and your Flight Attendants will love you if you pass them on to us.

-Do wear Layers. Your plane might be hot or cold depending on the time of year and how old it is. This is the best way to insure that you are prepared for the flight. We can't always get the temperature adjusted to everyone's liking.

-Don't forget anything as you exit the aircraft. If you do, there is a good chance you will never see it again.

- Do remember that traveling is not perfect. As with everything in life, there are a million variables of everything that can go wrong. It is all part of the journey so take a deep breathe and practice patience when things don't go as planned! Who knows, some of my worst travel experiences with my family, make the best stories that we laugh and bond over later down the road!

I swear that sometimes you would never know that I even came through the cabin with a garbage bag! Depending on my mood, I have been know to specifically ask, "Are you finished with that napkin in the seatback pocket"?

One of my favorites though is the newspaper. When they say they are going to take it with them but you just know they won't I say something like," Okay, I'll just pick it up when you leave." They usually get the message and take it even if they hadn't planned on it. :)

I'm going to apologize now for being "that person" on Sunday. Moving to another country might be the most stressful thing I've ever done! I have no idea how I'm going to fit everything into these bags, so I'm probably going to be the person with the ENORMOUS carry on, I just cannot help it, my checked bags are packed too!

I have no idea where/when you fly these days, but we're flying CVG to SEA Sunday morning if you're around, come say hi!
