It could be worse...

For the month of June, I have been a line holder... no pagers, no call windows, my trips are mine! (Small hand pump in the air).
I had heard the horror stories of how under staffed we are from all my reserve friends and I did happy dances that it wasn't me.
Everything was fine and dandy... until today. I am on day 2 of a 4 day. Today was our "easy day"... one flight from Montreal to Atlanta and the a deadhead to Jacksonville. This was going to be my nap time before I ran at the gym and blogged about my trip to Seattle.
Apparently Crew Scheduling had a different idea for my day. Once in Atlanta, I found out I was covering for another FA, going to Myrtle Beach and then to LaGaurdia. Did I mention, I found this out after I had already walked halfway across Atlanta's airport... and 20 minutes after the flight was supposed to leave? Right, fun times.
Luckily, my crew was amazing and all the passengers saw me as the "Savior" of their flight, instead of the Cause of the delay.
I let myself have a small pity party over my ruined day, until the FA taking over my plane arrived and told me how she had come in to work just an out and back and had been extended for an overnight. Did I mention she was supposed to be off tomorrow and came to work with out an overnight bag, without clothes, pj's, makeup, or underwear.
It could be worse!!!

(A little disclaimer- Most Flight Attendant's know NEVER to come to work unprepared, no matter what you are supposed to do that day. Things can always get off course... She has 12 years in and should have known better. The day you don't bring a bag is the one day you need it.)

Yikes! Big bummer. So true you never know where your day will take you in the airline industry.

Talk about a job hazard! If I ever showed up to work and my boss said I was pulling an unexpected overnighter...I'd laugh in his face. Oh the joys of working an 8-5 job.
