Summer Fun!

 First of all, we are super excited to announce that we will be adding a Baby Sister to the family!
We had our anatomy scan ultrasound and little girl almost didn't let us see what she was. We finally got a peek at the very end and I can't believe we are going to have a little girl. I am so excited to watch Logan become a big brother in a few months!!! Baby sister is so so lucky to have him.

Ok... so I promised I wouldn't stretch out all of our August fun into a million blog entries. Instead, I am going to quickly recap here and I make no promises that this will be short.

I never even recapped our Montreal visit waaaay back in May. We got home from Cincinnati and my brother in law and sister in law came to visit. We made the drive to Montreal and enjoyed a few days checking out the city and eating way way too much delicious food! (yum, poutine!) We walked around Old Montreal the first day, checked out Mount Royal the second (which has killer views of the city), walked around Rue Ste.-Catherine, Rue St-Paul and stopped by a huge market before heading home that I have no idea what the name was. I have so much more to say about it but I'll just let you check out a few photos. :)

June and July were pretty low key as I was just trying to get through the worst of morning sickness. Geoff was in training for a good 2 weeks- so we were on our own. To get through it, we hit up the beach, pool and park, went on walks, had play dates and swam/splashed in the backyard. I would have never been able to make it those two weeks without my friends up here.

We've had a few visitors in August since I was feeling better, we've been trying to squeeze all of our summer fun into the month. It has been fun fun fun... and majorly exhausting. haha! (can you tell that I originally wrote half of this in August... oops. blogger fail!)

Our good friends Laura and Clark came for the weekend in early August. We spent the first day in Boston- walking around Cambridge and then heading to the North End for dinner. We had a fabulous Italian dinner and then treated our guests to a few cannolis from Mike's Pastries. (If you haven't been... go! There is always a line but it moves fast and make sure you have cash. The peanut butter and lemoncello are my favorite- yum!)

The next day we headed to Portland Maine for the afternoon. It's less than a 2 hour drive from us here in NH. On our way we stopped off to get some Lobster Rolls!

We parked and spent the afternoon walking around the town, snacking at a few places and doing more than a little window shopping at all the fun shops. Portland is a beautiful and funky little place, the weather was perfect and I highly recommend the visit.

Sunday we spent in Portsmouth. We made an attempt to take everyone to Hampton Beach and once we arrived, it immediately started pouring on us. Oops. We headed into town instead and had lunch at the Friendly Toast. After the rain let up, we walked all around town. It was a fantastic visit and went by way to fast!!!

In between visitors, we squeezed in a trip to go blueberry picking. We even attempted to pick some raspberries as well but that was a lot harder so early in the season. Logan loooooved it. He caught on pretty quick to only pick the berries that were blue and ate everyone he picked. We did manage to keep him from eating everyone that we put into our buckets and brought home a good amount. :)

Next we had more family come into town. My other brother/sister-in-law, our two nephews and mom! We had them here for a week and sure lived it up.

We headed into Boston the first day and walked around Findley Market area for most of the afternoon. We got clam chowder to share and I desperately tried to get Logan to take a nap in his stroller. Geoff was finishing up a trip so he met us after and we had dinner in the North End. Every time we are walking around the North End at dinner time we see this one restaurant, Giacomo's Ristorante, that has a huge line up down the street. We figured now would be a good time to check it out. We waited around 45 minutes and had to split our big group into two tables but it was such a fun experience. The waiters were wonderful with Logan and the food was delicious. We got the calamari for an app and Geoff and myself split the Zuppa di Pesce, which is basically a gigantic plate filled with clams, mussels, calamari, scallops and lobster over linguine. So so good!

The next day we decided to keep it a little closer to home and the boys really wanted to go blueberry picking so that is what we did. We drove down to Brookdale Fruit Farms and spent the late morning stocking up on more Blueberries and Raspberries. Between all of us, we picked a ton and had no trouble eating them all very quickly!

We hung out at home in the afternoon and took the boys to the pool while Logan and the rest of the family took naps! Logan just looooved having his cousins around.

The next morning, we all got ready for a day trip north. We decided it would be fun to check out Clark's Trading Post while the family was here. Logan is obsessed with trains right now and we got to go on a train ride while we were there. They also have shops, a playground, rock climbing, splash boats, a bear show and a Chinese acrobat show. Kind of random mix of things to do but made for a really fun afternoon! Right at the end of the day, we got caught in a complete downpour. Lucky for us, we were all ready to leave once the rain let up a bit!

 Friday the weather was looking gorgeous so we headed back in the car to Hampton Beach for our beach day. We spent all afternoon playing in the sand, splashing in the water and running around. It was so much fun and Logan loved having more than just Geoff and myself to play with. Pretty much ended up being my favorite beach day of the whole summer!!!

Saturday we laid low and headed to our favorite park for a family photo shoot! My brother in law took some great photos for us all and I can't wait to see them. (He took our Baby #2 announcement shot.)

Afterwards, everyone agreed to grab some Indian food for dinner. I was so excited since I had been craving it for a while.

The last full day, we went into Boston and toured the USS Constitution. I had done this years ago when I vacationed in Boston with my family. I remembered a lot about the ship but it is so much different touring with a toddler. Less learning, more corralling the kids. haha! The boys seemed to enjoy it. :)

It was so sad to see everyone finally leave. When we got to the airport to say goodbye, Logan realized that everyone was getting out of the car besides us. He cried and kept saying "down, down" to the boys. He didn't want them to leave. It was the worst seeing him so distraught... I even cried. Glad that we are giving him a little playmate of his own soon!!!

Now we are just living up the last few days of "summer". Since kids are back in school, a lot of pools and splash pads are shut down... it's really starting to feel a lot more like fall. We will be holding onto the warmer weather with a Popsicle in both hands until we finally have to pull out the scarves and sweaters!
