This whole month, I have been off work thanks to spraining my wrist on the plane. I was supposed to work over the 4th of July weekend so I really didn't think about what I wanted to do before the actual day. If you read my last post, you know I'm not the biggest fan of huge crowds. I really had no desire to head downtown to watch the fireworks (I know, call me crazy). However, our roommate Aaron had a visitor and I found myself heading downtown about an hour before the show was to start. Again, we get down there, soaked in sweat trying to get as close to the Hudson as possible, pushed and smashed in crowds and crowds of people watching a handful of firework explosions between the buildings.
If we had gone down early, sat there all day to get a good seat, I probably would have loved the experience. Ours was a bit lame. The best part of the evening was walking to dinner at Yum Yum for Thai food.
However, the next evening Geoff and I got tickets to the Mets Game. I had to go as they were playing against my hometown team- The Cincinnati Reds! Woot woot.
I've been to a lot of baseball games and lots of different stadiums in my life. I was excited to add the Mets and Citifield to my list. :)
(I was one of a few people actually wearing Red and cheering for the Reds)
We got to the stadium, checked out the gift shop and headed for food and beverages. We were going get hot dogs but once in the line we smelled the most delicious onion rings and immediately left and got into the next line. We ended up with burgers, fries and onion rings and while they were all pretty tasty, the rings were hands down the best!
Our seats were pretty much nose bleeds, a few rows from the top of the stadium but being located close to home plate and in plain sight of the big scoreboard, they were pretty good. :) We were in the sun for the first half of the game so it got hot but we also got to watch all the airplanes taking off from LGA fly by us which Geoff loved.
In the end, the Reds won! YAY! I know I was the only one around me who was cheering at the end!!!
After the show, pretty much everyone stuck around because Citifield was putting on their own fireworks show for the 4th. I really enjoyed this show since I had a seat to sit in and could actually see and enjoy the fireworks. Set to music, they set them off not only from the field but also from the top of the stadium. Very cool!
If you are in NYC in the summer time, I highly recommend checking out a Mets Game!!! :)

I'm glad the Mets fans treated you nicely. Sometimes NY fans can be a little mean. I'm a Cardinals fan so right now we're chasing your Reds. Citi Field is one of those places I need to add to my list. Glad you got to go.
