When Lightning Strikes

Last night I boarded a plane from New York to Cincinnati. I have 5 days off and need a little refresher time around friends and family. I'll be here for a quick 2 days but it feel great to be around those who know me best...

Anyways, we get on and I take a seat, get comfy and off we go. About 40 minutes out of Cincinnati I see bursts of light out the window next to me. I turn off my light to get a better look and I see a storm and lots and lot of lightning. Now, I have flown around storms similar to this twice before and while they were cool... it was nothing like this. The lightning was non-stop. You could see bolts all the way to the ground and bolts going sideways, stabbing between the dark and stormy clouds. I was mesmerized, along with half the passengers. It got quiet as we got closer and the lightning continued on. More overhead lights went off and soon we were all staring out the windows, watching. It was no surprise when the captain came on and told us we had to hold until the storm left the field... I didn't mind, I was quite entertained by the lightning show going on out my window. After 20 minutes of holding we were able to head back towards the airport and land. Safely down on the ground we all headed on our ways.

This morning I wake up and check my email to find out that A huge 6 story statue of Jesus (on highway 1-75 right outside Cincinnati) that people have nick-named Big Butter Jesus was hit by lightning last night and burnt to the ground...
You can check out story HERE

I enjoyed this post (especially the irony of the Jesus statue being burned down by lightning!), but I would like to request that you remove my lightning photo from the page, as it is placed under an All Rights Reserved Copyright and using it without my permission is illegal. Thank you.
